As a Member, can I get free tickets to the exhibition on the day of my visit to the Museum?
Due to anticipated high demand, we cannot guarantee that any tickets for Harry Potter: A History of Magic will be available on the day of your visit, and we strongly recommend that you book tickets in advance. If tickets become available on a given day, Members may book their free tickets on a first-come, first-served basis. I just bought a Membership online. Why can't I book my tickets?
Thank you for joining and supporting New-York Historical! Please allow up to 36 hours for your Membership to become active in the system. You will receive an email with your new Member ID number once your Membership is activated.
How do I buy tickets?

How much do tickets cost?
Timed-entry tickets for Harry Potter: A History of Magic are $21 for adults, $16 for seniors (65+), $13 for students, $6 for kids ages 5–13, and free for children ages 0–4. Please note that adults will not be admitted with kids tickets, and students will be required to show Student ID. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are not transferable, and the ticket purchaser will be required to show ID upon arrival. For Member tickets, see our Member section below.
Do I need to book a ticket for my 0–4 year old?
Yes. While tickets for children ages 0–4 are free, you are still required to book their tickets in advance.
Is there a booking fee?
Online orders will be assessed a 3% credit card fee plus a booking fee of $1.00 per ticket, except for kids (ages 5–13) tickets, which will be assessed a booking fee of $0.75 per ticket. Free tickets will not be charged a booking fee. Phone orders will be assessed an additional fee of $1.25 per ticket. You also may buy advance tickets on-site at the New-York Historical Society for no extra fee.
Can I buy tickets on the day of my visit?

How many tickets can I buy?
You may purchase a maximum of six (6) timed-entry tickets.
Does my ticket allow me to see the New-York Historical Society’s other exhibitions?
Yes! Our other terrific exhibits are included in your ticket, and you may explore them at your leisure at any time on the day of your scheduled visit.
What are the exhibition’s open hours?
Harry Potter: A History of Magic will be open to the public Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday 10am–6pm, Friday 10am–9pm, and Sunday 10am–5pm. The last entry will be 45 minutes before closing. Please check our calendar for occasional gallery closures and special open days.
I have a voucher or coupon to the New-York Historical Society. Can I use that for my advance ticket?
Unfortunately, advance tickets are only available at full price. If walk-up sales become available on a given day (see above), we will honor vouchers, coupons, and other discounts. For Member tickets, see our member section below.
Will you offer pay-as-you-wish hours for the Harry Potter exhibition?
Due to high demand, tickets for Harry Potter: A History of Magic on our Pay-as-you-wish Friday Nights will be sold at full price, although we will still honor pay-as-you-wish admission for all other exhibitions on Fridays, 6–9 pm.
THE DAY OF YOUR VISIT
What should I bring on the day of my visit?
You will need to bring your ticket or mobile ticket and a photo ID. Please note that tickets are not transferable.
When should I arrive for my visit?
We recommend arriving 15 minutes in advance of the time listed on your timed-entry ticket. If you would like to visit the rest of the Museum, please allow additional time.
If I arrive early, can I go into the exhibition early?
Due to anticipated crowds, we will not be able to admit visitors to the exhibition early. However, you may explore the rest of the Museum while you wait for your entry time.
If I arrive late, will I still be allowed to enter the exhibition?
If space allows, your timed-entry ticket will be honored up to 15 minutes from the listed entry time. However, we strongly recommend that you arrive early.
How much time should I allow to see the exhibition?
While this varies greatly from person to person, we recommend you plan on at least 45 minutes to see the exhibition.
Can I leave the exhibition and return?
Unfortunately, reentry to the exhibition is not permitted.
Is the exhibition wheelchair accessible?
Yes! The exhibition is fully wheelchair accessible, and ramp entry to the building is available at our 77th Street entrance. We also have a limited number of wheelchairs available free of charge. What do you offer for visitors who are blind or have low vision?
Large print text is available at the exhibition entrance on a first-come, first-served basis.
Can I book a guided tour to the exhibition?
Yes! Guided tours to the exhibition for adults and college classes are available. Please contact our Group Sales department at (212) 873-3400 ext. 352 to book your tour or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. Please note, however, that we are not selling group admission to self-guided groups.
Can I bring a school group to the exhibition?
Yes! School group visits are available on Mondays when the Museum is closed to the general public. You can book a school group visit by calling (212)485-9293 or visiting www.nyhistory.org/education/school-groups. School group visits are available for other exhibitions every day of the week.

Tickets are nonrefundable and nontransferable.
I bought my ticket for the wrong date or time. Can I switch?
If you have discovered your error within 48 hours of your order, you may swap times by calling the ShowClix Call Center at (888)718-4253. After 48 hours, your order cannot be changed.
Can I give my tickets to a friend or resell them?
Tickets are nonrefundable and nontransferable. The ticket purchaser must be on site on the day of your visit.
